Blackhawk Auto Museum
November 16, 2007
As parking lots go, the wide plaza in front of the Blackhawk Auto Museum in Danville ranks pretty
high. Twenty Miatas gathered in front for a striking photo op while 32 BAMA members drifted into
the elegant lobby for a guided tour led by two of the museum's knowledgeable docents.

The Blackhawk Museum is famous for its vast collection of rare and one-of-a-kind automobiles dating
from the early 1900s through the 1960s. The museum's collection includes all the expected Ferraris,
Maseratis, and Bugattis, but also real eye-catchers like a trio of Gulf LeMans racers and the B.A.T.
concept cars.
Reluctant as everyone was to leave the museum, a lunch reservation was waiting at a nearby restaurant.
One by one, Miatas disengaged from the parking area and would through the plaza to park among the masses.
After a quick meal the group was back on the road, low sun in their eyes, as Kaitlyn led them through
the canyon toward the bay. From Castro Valley, the group climbed up Redwood Road and
sailed along the golden ridges of the East Bay hills, opposite a glorious setting sun. Quickly down
through the tree-lined twisties, Miatas raced the darkness back to the Diablo Valley, where club
members said their good-byes and headed for home.
