Bugs n' Bucks Bonanza
September 29, 2007
One of the truly fun events of the year, with a simple premise: Tape some targets to the front of
your Miata, then set out for the valley at dusk to pick up as many bugs as you can.
Bugs on the windscreen don't count of course, but many entrants--aware of how many critters are
nailed regularly by the pop-up headlights--taped targets to the buckets. Which didn't seem like
such a hot idea after the sun went down.

After a beautiful drive at sunset, members gathered for dinner at a Chevy's in Tracy,
where targets were untaped and hits were tabulated by the judges. The restaurant seemed
barely prepared for the onslaught of Miata folks, but everyone except the Merrills managed
to get served.
After dinner. prizes were awarded for
most bugs, biggest bugs, fewest bugs, and a couple of other equally-gross categories. No one walked
away empty-handed, though, as everyone was awarded a free sample of car wash.
